Democrats to ''revisit'' law creating border fence

The Minutemen continue to build fencing on private land using private donations. For more information: Minuteman Border Fence

Not that we ever expected a fence to be built by the government, this from today''s Washington Times:

Democrats to ''revisit'' law creating border fence

Democrats will look again at the legislation mandating 698 miles of fencing along the U.S.-Mexico border and might seek to scrap the plan altogether when they take control of Congress next year.

Rep. Bennie Thompson, Mississippi Democrat, told reporters this week that he expected to "revisit" the issue when he becomes chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee in the 110th Congress.

Mr. Thompson said the Department of Homeland Security''s (DHS) new border enforcement program, known as the Secure Border Initiative or SBI Net -- which includes monitors, cameras and other integrated surveillance systems -- is a viable alternative to fencing.

"We might do away with it, or look at [integrating it into] SBI Net," he said. "A virtual fence rather than a real one."

President Bush and Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff have voiced similar concerns about building the fence.

DHS spokesman Russ Knocke told United Press International that in remote border areas, "virtual fencing ... is more advantageous," whereas "traditional fencing has a core role in our border security strategy ... especially in urban areas."

"We''re optimistic that working with Congress we''ll get the flexibility to integrate traditional fencing into a seamless, high-tech border security system," Mr. Knocke said.

STATEMENT ON ELECTION RESULTS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

STATEMENT ON ELECTION RESULTS

Duplicity, Mixed Messages on Illegal Immigration Sinks GOP

PHOENIX, AZ (November 8, 2006) – Chris Simcox, President of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps (“MCDC”), released the following statement on the election results:

“What we witnessed yesterday in America’s elections was a populist revolt. With the issues of national security and ethical questions looming over the elections, the GOP leadership gave voters nothing to actually vote for. The crises before us of border security and the illegal immigration invasion could have given a strong GOP agenda a crucial electoral edge, yet the President choose to send a contrary message to voters the week before the elections, stating that he needed a Republican Congress for his amnesty disguised as a guest worker ‘path to citizenship’ to move forward. He completely undermined Republican candidates struggling to place the safety and security of American families first. This is borne out by the fact that Republican candidates overall lost yesterday, but candidates running as conservatives won the day. Further, ballot measures restricting access and benefits for illegal aliens passed overwhelmingly.

“The American people understand that talk of amnesty by some in our government as our wide open borders are compromised by thousands daily is irresponsible and causes a tsunami of illegal entry into this country by those seeking to get in under the wire to take advantage of the offer of amnesty. As these numbers grow in volume and scope, the international criminal cartels gain even more control over our border frontiers, the black market underground swells with document fraud and identity theft, and the drug and contraband turf wars accelerate. More gang violence erupts in our cities by murderous thugs such as MS-13, the ruthless gang of self-professed friends of al Qaeda who, by our own government’s estimation, number in the tens of thousands in cities across America. National security and public safety demand that we make securing our borders combined with serious interior enforcement the first and most urgent priority of Homeland Security. This is not rocket science. It is time for our politicians to hear what the people are saying to them: Secure our borders now—no amnesty.

“The rejection of the mixed messages and playing politics with our national security should serve as a wake-up call to the GOP and to those Democrats who were elected under the conservative banner. The American people are fed up with political games at the expense of their safety, security and sovereignty.”

Al Qaeda Leader: Materials Smuggled Across Border

KRGV News Channel 5 from Harlingen-Weslaco-McAllen-Brownsville, Texas has this chilling report on terrorists already in this country who have crossed our wide open borders.

From infowars.com:

Al Qaeda Leader: Materials Smuggled Across Border

News Channel 5 | November 02, 2006

Terrorists trying to blend in with Mexican culture

A NEWSCHANNEL 5 investigation reveals what the feds don''t want you to know. Suspected terrorists are hiding inside the U.S. and they got here by sneaking across the Mexican border.

What we''ve been reporting for more than a year has been confirmed by a government report just released. (Click here to download the report.)

And a brand new interview by Pakistani investigative reporter Hamid Mir is bringing in more information.

Mir has interviewed some of America''s most dangerous terrorist enemies. This time the Al Qaeda commander he talked to gave a grim warning that another attack on America is coming very soon.

"We can attack America anytime," says Abu Dawood during the interview. He also told the reporter that Muslims must leave America.

Mir says, "Abu Dawood told me, ''We are determined to attack America again and that attack will be bigger than 9/11."

The Al Qaeda commander says the attack will be led by Adnan El Shukrijumah. He goes by many aliases but is called Brother Adnan by his terrorist friends.

Brother Adnan is wanted by the feds for possible terrorist threats against the U.S. He''s considered armed and dangerous

According to the Pakistani reporter, Dawood said Brother Adnan "had smuggled some dangerous materials from the Mexican border to inside the United States of America."

Minuteman Border Fence update 11/7/06

The first LARGE shipment of steel mesh panels is scheduled to load onto trucks today, Tuesday, and arrive on site on Thursday 11/9/06. This is enough steel mesh to complete this phase of the first 1/3 mile of the foundational "no climb" fence layer. More steel is being fabricated as we speak and I will update as soon as I get the information on its scheduled delivery.

Barring an Act of God, we will continue with attaching the steel mesh to the fence posts when this shipment arrives.

In the meantime, here are more pictures of some of the first panels in place!
