RELEASE: BORDER SECURITY FIRST, BORDER SECURITY ONLY, BORDER SECURITY NOW

A press conference is being held this morning (June 28th) in Washington, D.C. where MCDC will join dozens of organizations representing millions of American citizens making our voices heard in support of border security only legislation and opposing amnesty, permanent “temporary” guest worker permits, family chain migration and many other elements of the U.S. Senate’s amnesty bill.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

BORDER SECURITY FIRST,
BORDER SECURITY ONLY,
BORDER SECURITY NOW!

PHOENIX, AZ (June 28, 2006) – Chris Simcox, President of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps (“MCDC”), released the following statement at a press conference in Washington, D.C., delivered by George Taplin, Director, MCDC, Virginia:

“The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps today joins with dozens of other groups representing millions of Americans to urge the House of Representatives to hold the line and insist on what the American people want from their elected representatives out of Washington: border security first, border security only and border security now.

“The urgent need is to secure the border with federal troops. There is no conflict with the Posse Comitatus Act as the war zone that is America’s southern frontier is not a law enforcement matter but a matter of national security. We must establish operational control over our southern border immediately. There is no time to play politics with amnesty disguised as a ‘temporary’ guest worker program. There is no need to immediately decide how politicians can pander to the estimated 12-30 million illegal aliens already in our country or to their employers desirous of a steady pool of slave-wage labor. The urgent need is for Congress to fund a substantial increase in border security elements: build fences and barriers, dedicate satellites and other technology to our border security and put armed troops on the ground along the border immediately.

“The American people do not trust our politicians when they say they will secure the border, despite the overwhelming resources at their disposal and the clear mandate of the electorate. Politicians in Congress and throughout the nation would be well advised to remember this election year that the people of this country want results not rhetoric. Prove to the American people that you will secure the borders, prove to the American people that you have the political will—and prove to us that the borders are secured. Then and only then will you have earned the trust of the American people. We’ve been down this road before with false border security promises tied to amnesty after amnesty after amnesty. The system is not in place to process these millions upon millions of illegal aliens in the Untied States. Our resources must be dedicated to border security now.

“It is absolutely appalling that 45,008 illegal aliens from countries on the U.S. list of state-sponsors of terror (SST) and from countries that protect terrorists (SIC) were apprehended and then released by elements of the Department of Homeland Security onto the streets of America between 2001 and 2005, and it is still not known how many, if any, of these illegals were actually deported. This is outrageous and completely unacceptable in a post-9/11 world.

“We must put a stop to the avenues of illegal entry into this country by potential terrorists, gang members, drug, arms and human traffickers and illegal migrants. For far too long the American taxpayer has funded these disastrous policies. The time is long overdue for our representatives in government to EARN the trust of the American people. Stop the bleeding. Secure the borders NOW.”
