COMPREHENSIVE IMMIGRATION REFORM IS OFFENSIVE TO HISPANICS

HISPANIC LEADER IS DISGUSTED BY POLITICAL PANDERING TO HISPANIC COMMUNITY UNDER THE GUISE OF NATIONAL INTEREST

PHOENIX, AZ— Al Garza, National Executive Director of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps (MCDC) is disgusted by the “compromise” reached yesterday on the Senate’s newly introduced amnesty bill which he believes will eventually lead to greater racial riffs within the United States.   Mr. Garza, who has spent the last few years building a coalition of Hispanic Americans throughout the nation and within MCDC, is concerned that the bill represents political pandering by both major political parties that seeks to increase the numbers of registered Hispanic voters rather than defend the United States as a whole—and jeopardizes the country during the current national security crisis posed by porous borders.

“America will be a country divided if we pander to one community in order to tip the political scales, rather than hold all parties accountable to the same laws,” states Al Garza, National Executive Director of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps.   “We are all equal before the law in America, and our laws should be enforced on illegal entrants to our territory regardless of political calculations about ethnicity or race.”

Mr. Garza urges all citizens to immediately contact their U.S. Senators and their Representatives in Washington, DC in order to demand that they oppose the bill under consideration that forces amnesty forward into law. He also urges citizens to remind all Members of Congress to enforce the funding of a security fence on our nation’s borders that received passage in both the U.S. House and the Senate, and was signed into law by President Bush last year.

Garza continues, “It is repulsive and insulting that our government would promote any form of amnesty for overtly illegal conduct, while American citizens continue to be held accountable under these very laws the authorities refuse to impose upon foreign lawbreakers who trespass.  We will continue to work within the Hispanic American community to foster an understanding for the need for border security and strict enforcement of the law for all, and pray that logic will prevail so the growing sense of injustice, inequality under law, and deepening racial divide will not continue to fester."

Unlike the U.S. government, the Minutemen have already been implementing a plan for border security that includes an effective material barrier—by volunteering their time, energy and personal funds in order to build highly effective demonstration security fencing on private ranch land, expensed through private donations obtained from thousands of citizens nationally.  To educate the public and force federal government attention to the realities of border security, Minuteman volunteers have taken steps to build this fence along the border utilizing state of the art technology with the fiber optic mesh produced by FOMGuard, USA, also currently in use on U.S. military installations, the DMZ in Korea and the West Bank in Israel, and recently featured in National Geographic magazine.

The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps (MCDC) is a peaceful, law-abiding and citizen-led initiative organized to stand watch at our borders and in our neighborhoods, report illegal activities to the proper authorities, and aid in the construction of border fencing on private lands using private donations.  Additionally, MCDC seeks to urge local and federal officials to enforce our immigration laws in order to keep our families and country safe.  MCDC conducts border watch operations that assist the activities of the U.S. Border Patrol, reports employers of illegal aliens, and advocates to keeps tax dollars from being used for illegal alien benefits.
