IS THE CENSUS BUREAU SAVING ILLEGAL ALIENS FROM DEPORTATION?

MINUTEMEN QUESTION BUSH ADMINISTRATION FAILURE TO ENFORCE OUR IMMIGRATION LAWS BY YET ANOTHER FEDERAL AGENCY

PHOENIX, AZ—The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps (MCDC) challenge the Bush Administration to fix the bureaucratic boondoggle created by the U.S. Census Bureau who is seeking to prevent millions of illegal aliens from being lawfully deported while the constitutionally mandated decennial census is conducted in 2010.  Recently, the Director of the U.S. Census Bureau told members of a Senate subcommittee that the Census data would be used to evaluate numerous laws, including the 1986 Immigration Bill that permitted an onslaught of “Amnesty residency” for illegal aliens.

“Americans wants our immigration laws enforced whether it is by ICE, their local law enforcement or members of the U.S. Census Bureau,” states Chris Simcox, MCDC Founder and President.  “These lawbreakers do not need to be counted towards our national census and I doubt our Founding Fathers would argue with the need to keep them here in violation of the rule of law.”

On July 17, 2007, the Director of the U.S. Census Bureau Louis Kincannon, testified before a Senate subcommittee to detail plans for increasing the efficiency for conducting the 2010 Census and results from this summer’s “dress rehearsal.”  Kincannon also used the opportunity to reiterate details of an earlier report to Congress which reminded Senators that the census will serve to review the 1986 Amnesty program, among other laws, and details potential challenges for providing an accurate census, including the impact of immigration laws currently under debate.

Simcox continues, “The Administration is refusing to enforce our laws properly, time and again, and this provides another example of poor leadership and broken trust with the citizenry by the feds.  If the Census Bureau believes it can find the twelve million or more illegal aliens living within our unprotected borders, then they should be deputized to enforce our immigration laws or be accompanied by ICE agents—who when there is no bureaucratic advantage to be realized by finding them, appear to be having a more difficult time identifying the lawbreakers among us.”
