CONGRESS IS LATE TO HONOR AN AMERICAN HERO

HOUSE RESOLUTION 954 WILL NOT SECURE THE BORDERS OR RETUN A FATHER TO HIS YOUNG SONS

PHOENIX, AZ —The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps (MCDC) reminds Members of the U.S. Congress that today’s consideration of House Resolution 954 will not return senior U.S. Border Patrol Agent Luis Aguilar to his two young children or secure our borders so that other Border Patrol agents will not be killed while attempting to stop drug traffickers or other illegal entrants.  Agent Aguilar is an American hero who was killed in the line of duty on 22 January 2008 because our government has refused to fund and build a physical border barrier on the Southern U.S. border, thereby allowing over 2,000 terrorists, thugs, drug and sex traffickers to illegally enter our country every day.

“The tragic loss of Agent Aguilar is emblematic of the 44% increase in attacks against our hard-pressed Border Patrol since 2006,” states Chris Simcox, President of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps.  “Mexican drug smugglers and terrorists continue to use exploited Mexican migrants to distract the border agents with bullets, bottles and rocks while these criminal syndicates violate our sovereignty undeterred, because there is no physical border fence or National Guard presence to deter them from carrying out their deleterious actions.”

The volunteers of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps will continue to pressure our government to use our hard-earned tax dollars wisely by posting the National Guard back on our borders to combat the criminal thugs who conspire with the Mexican government to do us harm through their unbridled drug trafficking, sex trafficking and violence towards our citizens, until the physical border fence is completed.  While Mexican government officials are spending time “refreshing” our lawmakers about the “benefits” of illegal immigration, we will continue to demand our President, Congress and candidates at all levels understand the need to take the appropriate actions to immediately defend our country before we hear about the next U.S. Border Patrol agent whose children will be left fatherless.

Simcox continues, “The murder of Agent Aguilar should have been a matter of concern for our Washington elite last month, especially during the President’s State of the Union Address and its delayed mention is proof of how low a priority border security has become to our feckless lawmakers.  I hope that Mexican President Felipe Calderon will make the effort to express his condolences in person to the Aguilar family while he is touring the United States this week, praising the millions of Mexican nationals who send billions of dollars back to Mexico every year from the jobs they have illegally taken from hard-working American taxpayers.”

The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps (MCDC) is a peaceful, law-abiding and citizen-led initiative organized to stand watch at our borders and in our neighborhoods, report illegal activities to the proper authorities, and aid in the construction of border fencing on private lands using private donations.  Additionally, MCDC seeks to urge local and federal officials to enforce our immigration laws in order to keep our families and country safe.  MCDC conducts border watch operations that assist the activities of the U.S. Border Patrol, reports employers of illegal aliens, and advocates to keeps tax dollars from being used for illegal alien benefits.
