If you are coming to Arizona please obtain your AZ State Land permit. They expire one year from the month of purchase. A Hunting and Fishing license does NOT grant you access to state land unless you are in the act of hunting or fishing. If you need to purchase or renew your state land permit, please go to this link and print the application and mail it ins ASAP, as it usually takes 2 weeks to process. http://www.land.state.az.us/programs/natural/rec_permit.pdf

As you prepare to participate in the Arizona operations, there are a few things you need to know. We have two sectors, Cochise County and the Altar Valley near Three Points, Arizona. Tucson is the largest City, approximately 40 miles from our headquarters ranch. Both locations are dry camp areas. We do provide Port-a- potties at each location.

In Cochise County, there are motels and hotels located approximately 20 miles from our headquarters location, both in Sierra Vista, Arizona and in Bisbee, Arizona. There is also a small convenience store approximately 2 miles from the campsite and a Wal-Mart, Target, K-Mart and grocery shopping is available in Sierra Vista and Bisbee, Arizona. The Altar Valley location is much more remote. There is a medium-size grocery store approximately 15 miles from the campsite. That's also the closest location for gasoline.

The Altar Valley location is on a ranch which is a dry camp area. And again Port-a- potties are provided as well as water. We recommend that you bring a small self-contained travel trailer or fifth wheel. And yes we can accommodate RVs, trucks or you can sleep in your car or tent. Please be prepared. Bring your own food and a way to prepare it, your own flashlights, and during these winter months, be prepared for cold and wet weather. We do have one microwave in the community tent. We do stock emergency food for just emergency situations. Some canned food and MRE's are kept in stock to help out those who find themselves in a pinch.

Please refer to the training manual for more specific information. Many of the areas that we patrol, require a 4x4 truck, some areas also allow ATV's, which must remain on dirt roadways and never be taken off road. We have only one line that we set that is sedan friendly, our other lines require at least a pickup truck, be prepared for your vehicle to be marked with "desert pin striping".

When arriving at the headquarters operation. Please check-in at the admin station. However, please be respectful of the need to keep the admin building and communication center clear of traffic and socializing. We have a separate tent set up that serves as a community socializing area, where you can chat, meet friends and share stories and ask questions. You, the volunteer are our most important resource, we look forward to your participation and hope we can everything possible to make your visit worthwhile and memorable.
