Carmen Mercer reports from Washington DC pushing Senators to Vote NO!
I have to agree with Chris! Washington D.C. is miserable especially in the summer and we desert rats just are suffering!!!!
Another exciting day in the big city of Washington D.C.! I can tell you one thing: Emotions are flying high and I thought for a moment a fight was going to break out in the capital today on the senate floor.
Things are not going well for Reid and the RINO's, the Senators are upset at Reid's clay pigeon procedure, you can tell, these guys who concocted the bill and changed it are not comfortable.
Now it is our time again to win this battle!!!!!
Fax all 100 Senators and 435 Congressmen NOW!
Select Here to FAX all Senators and STOP Amnesty NOW!
https://secure.responseenterprises.com/mmfax_amnesty/?a=892
You will need to fax-call and join me today in DC if you can, we have a very good chance to get the next "NO" cloture vote.
This bill is a bad bill for America and everybody knows it, they changed the bill last night and did not even finish it before they put it out. Or did they finish it and prevented the Senators from seeing it? It is the same thing they did when the first 1,000 page draft came out, giving the Senators three days to read through it.
We know that they have not read through it, they are missing too many points when we talk to them!!!!!!!!!
We don't need this bill, we don't want this bill; let us make our voices heard!!!!!
Congressman Ed Royce has concluded that the Senate Immigration Bill will shatter our nation's broken immigration system and greatly increase the danger of terrorist attacks on the American people.
Senator Grassley was one of the original voters on the 1986 Amnesty bill, said today he certainly does not want to make that mistake again.
That is where we have to hit them hardest: at their conscience!!! Most of them do have one. So, let us get on that phone and tell them they will have to wake up in the morning and be able to see themselves and not regret making a bad decision for the United States!!
Thanks for your patriotism and love for your country!!!!! We cannot rest! We are keeping alert and are wary of the "voting tricks" of the Senate, so we need to keep the pressure on to have BORDER SECURITY FIRST, BORDER SECURITY NOW!
Thanks for all of you!

Hi Folks,
I did not think I was going to make it - had problems getting on the internet - but miracles do happen.
So, my report is a little late; I hope not too late.
Chris left today, after working hard with quite a few radio interviews early in the morning.
Bill Gheen from Alipac joined us around noon and together we went to speak to Senator Burr from N.C. Bill had arranged the meeting and was gracious enough to let me tag along.
What would have been a 10 minute conference turned into about one hour and was a very genuine conversation between us. Although we did not see any effort on the receptionists part in recording the many phone calls coming in while we were waiting for Senator Burr - maybe they just decided it was going to be this busy until after the vote on the "amnesty" bill and they already knew that we - you and I and every great American - would be bombarding the phones again.
Senator Burr has been on the border, he confirmed that when I asked him. He does not, however, believe that we can build a fence along the Southern border or Northern border for that matter. His solution for addressing the problem of all the illegal aliens is that we must hold the employer accountable. He also favors the biometric card. Bill mentioned that the "amnesty" bill would require for everybody to get one of those cards - even every American Citizen - and Bill is very much against such actions for our citizens; the senator denied it and reassured us that it would only be required of people trying to legally work in this country. He said that many people are misinformed of some content of the "immigration reform" bill and that he had gone over it again and again to make sure they they themselves understood it correctly.
He also was concerned, that the majority of the American Public may not be aware of what is coming to them if the trigger points get completed - as in many more facilities for the illegals which will come out of the taxpayer's pocket. His comments were that they were trying to get away with possible "tent cities". Because, according to Senator Burr, illegal aliens do have some rights. That should be one entity we should tackle one of these days - once the border is secured, just a thought.
Senator Burr is quite aware that the American Public does not trust our elected officials anymore and that trust won't get any better if the senators vote for cloture today.
The senator assured us that it is not easy to make the right decision on this bill; he also feels that it needs to be debated and amended.
When Bill Gheen mentioned the SPP, the senator assured us that this was not true, because he had never heard about it. He did however promise to look into it.
I should have asked him then if he was aware of the third SPP meeting scheduled for August 20 and 21 2007 in Mongebello, Quebec.
One thing worried me though, when he said at the end, that he might vote for cloture so that he can vote against the bill afterwards. After going to the capital later on after my last visit to senator Warner Va. - and I am glad I did - to see if I could find out anything for the cloture vote tomorrow
- I listened to senator Sessions for a moment and learned that we cannot vote "yes" to cloture, even if our intends are to vote "no" against it later on, because - rumor has it -Majority Leader Senator Reid will then sock it to the senators and manipulate his demands for a few amendments only to then pressure them into the vote 30 hours later.
Again and again, Senator Sessions repeated that this is not a good bill and needs to be voted against.
SO FOLKS, CALL, CALL, CALL, AGAIN, NO TO CLOTURE!!!!!!!
He said that everybody thought it would reduce illegal immigration tremendously, however, he found out it would only reduce illegal immigration by 13 % which was nothing. He urged his fellow democratic Senators to reconsider and vote against the cloture vote tomorrow.
I also visited Senator Warner's office and had a good visit with his Legislative Correspondent Jonathan D. Rogers - although he told me that he did not have much time, he still sat down with me and listened very carefully to what I had to say to him. He thought the amendment to require the illegals to have some kind of health insurance - even with a high deductible - (Senator De Mints' amendment) also would ensure that they would go through a thorough health check before being admitted into this country. Not so, as I reassured him and he will definitely address this to his employer.
When I asked if the past amendments would still be honored in this vote or if they had to start all over again and then get it all done with the allowed 20 amendments, he did not know how they would handle it.
I also mentioned to him that Senator Dodd's amendment would have a loop hole because it would also allow family members of Anchor Babies to become automatic Green Card Holders and that the 14th amendment needed to be changed because of that.
My other comment was - How can we believe that the government will build 300 plus miles of fence in 18 months when we have not seen much of a fence yet?
During my visits I also was able to talk to Callie Varner - Rep. Tim Mahoney's Legislative Assistant, who had just started a week ago and was not that familiar with everything going on. Again, I was able to give her some valuable information and she, being from Texas, actually had heard about the SPP and believed what I said. Other than that she assured me that her Congressman was adamant about border security first - him being from a State which has its own problems of illegal immigration although different - being surrounded by water.
Again, a lot of their interest perked up when they were informed about the diseases coming into this country - they all have now heard about the drug resistant TB that came into the USA by a legal person - they can well imagine what damage can be done with people coming in and nobody gives them a health check to know what they are bringing in.
I am worn out. D.C. has turned very humid since I was here last week.
Tomorrow morning I am going to have breakfast with Senator Lamar Alexander - thanks to Chris who was not able to attend - he thought of me and told Alexander that I am a legal immigrant and I am very concerned about education and health of our children and grandchildren.
Thanks Chris and I hope you made it back home ok!
Will talk to everybody tomorrow.
Going to bed.
Thanks for all of you!
